History

After the sale of the family's interest in Quinta do Noval, Fernando Luiz van Zeller accumulated substantial stocks of Port that became the foundation of Barão de Vilar. His sons Fernando and Álvaro developed the business into today's The Wine Collection.

Vineyards, estates and production

The group owns several Douro properties, including Quinta do Saião. Production takes place in Santa Comba da Vilariça. Mature Tawnies are based on traditionally vinified wines aged for long periods in wood before blending.

Style and Port wines

The range includes Ruby, Tawny, White, Extra Dry White, Pink, Reserve, LBV, Vintage, Colheita and age-indicated Tawnies at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 80 years.
