Porto Cruz is an internationally distributed Port brand with historical roots in Vila Nova de Gaia. Its present identity combines the Portuguese house lineage of Assumpção e Filhos, founded in 1887, with the modern PORTO CRUZ brand launched by La Martiniquaise in 1956. La Martiniquaise acquired Gran Cruz in Portugal in 1975. Today Porto Cruz operates within the Granvinhos and La Martiniquaise-Bardinet structure.

The historical roots reach back to 1887. La Martiniquaise began trading Port in 1946 and launched PORTO CRUZ in 1956. In 1975 it acquired Gran Cruz in Portugal. Gran Cruz became an important exporter in the 1990s. The group opened a new winery in Alijó in 2016 and states that it acquired Quinta de Ventozelo in 2017, strengthening control over grape supply.
Quinta de Ventozelo is a central Douro base. The group combines viticulture, Port and Douro wine production and wine tourism there. The Alijó winery complements the traditional storage facilities in Vila Nova de Gaia. Tawny and Colheita Ports mature in wood, while Vintage is designed for extended bottle ageing.
The range includes Ruby, Tawny, White, Pink, Special Reserve, LBV, Vintage, Colheita, White Colheita and 10, 20, 30 and 40 Year Old Tawny Ports. Porto Cruz therefore covers both fruit-driven and oxidative Port styles.
Porto Cruz combines historic Port structures with international brand management. The Woman in Black, Espaço Porto Cruz and Gran Cruz House are part of its cultural identity. Investments in Ventozelo and Alijó also demonstrate the expansion of its own production base.
